Beginning Marbling Class

Experience the joys of marbling in this hands-on class that will allow you to explore colors, learn basic techniques and patterns, experiment with your own designs ~ and give you the confidence to start marbling on your own at home!

In this 5-hour session, you will learn the basics to get you started designing both traditional marbled papers as well as your own creations. In addition, you will learn how to make the bath, mix the mordant, and alum your own papers. You will marble primarily in either a small (11″ x 14″) or large (20″ x 25″) tank and also have access to other size tanks. A variety of paper colors, weights, and sizes will be supplied and by the end of the class, you will have 15-20 marbled pieces to take home and use for bookbinding, card making, scrapbooking, framing, and more.

This class is personalized for beginners and returning students alike. Come explore the ancient art form of floating paint on thickened water ~ without the hassle of prep, set up, and shopping for materials! Everything will be provided for you. Just show up and have fun! No previous art experience of any kind necessary.

Length of Class: 5-6 hours.

Number of Class Participants: Maximum of eight. Classes are for participants 16 years of age or older.

Cost: $195 (small tank)/$245 (large tank), includes all paper, carrageenan bath, alum, distilled water, paint, use of tanks and tools, and handouts.
